Ferrari Crushed Under Truck in Doral, Driver Arrested

Two people are fortunate to be alive after the Ferrari they were riding in collided with a truck overnight in Doral, reducing the luxury car to a pile of mangled metal.

Doral Police say the driver of the Ferrari, along with a female passenger, left the La Covacha nightclub in the overnight hours Monday morning. The driver was under the influence of alcohol, according to police.

The driver crashed the Ferrari into an 18 wheeler in the area of Northwest 25th Street and 93rd Avenue in Doral. Police say that female passenger was injured and taken to the hospital. She is expected to be okay.

The driver of the Ferrari, identified as 26-year-old Jose Luis Martin, was arrested for DUI. He was being held on $1,000 bond Monday and it was unknown if he has an attorney.

Witnesses initially claimed that two Ferrari's were racing overnight when one lost control and ended up under a truck. Police have said that information is false, and say the crash is not related to drag racing.

Video footage obtained by NBC 6 South Florida shows the black luxury car crushed underneath the bed of that truck.

The extent of injuries suffered by the driver of that car are not immediately known. Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
