Fire Destroys Several Apartments in Northeast Miami-Dade

A four-alarm fire at a northeast Miami-Dade apartment building early Sunday morning has left several families with nowhere to go.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the fire on the 15200 block of NE 6th Avenue just after 1 a.m. More than 200 firefighters battled the blaze, rescuing several people from balconies.

"We made multiple ladder rescues from the third floor, which included a pregnant female," MDFR Division Chief Paul Smith said.

Officials said two units were destroyed by the fire, with one suffering a partial roof collapse. Four other units sustained smoke damage.

The American Red Cross responded to assist those displaced by the fire.

There were no injuries. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
