Fire Started by Boy, 9, Destroys Home in Miami

The home's owner said he rents a room in the house to the mother and her son. The fire started in the garage and spread to the bedroom.

A 9-year-old boy playing with matches started a house fire, which destroyed the home and displaced the family, Miami Fire-Rescue said Friday.

The home's owner said he rents a room in the house to the mother and her son. The fire started in the garage and spread to the bedroom.

The boy is talking to investigators and will be put in a program to prevent this from happening again.
