Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue crews responded to a fire at the Broward County Main Jail Thursday.
The Broward County Main Jail is located at 555 Southeast 1st Ave in Fort Lauderdale.
The jail was immediatley placed under lockdown and the first and second floors were evacuated due to water and smoke.
Officials say the fire started in the laundry room. Staff and inmates were safely evacuated.
One employee was transported to Broward Health Medical Center and is reported to be in good condition.
Around 100 inmates have been transported to Paul Rein Detention Center in Pompano Beach.
