Firefighters Save Woman From Pompano Beach House Fire

A woman was hospitalized after she was rescued from a house fire in Pompano Beach Tuesday morning, officials said.

Firefighters responded to the home at 1450 Northeast 44th Street at 10:16 a.m. after a neighbor called 911 to report seeing smoke coming from the home's windows, Pompano Beach Fire Rescue officials said.

The 32-year-old woman was found in a bedroom face down and coughing on the floor. She was quickly taken out and treated for smoke inhalation then taken to Broward Health North.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. A chihuahua named Diva was also rescued from the home and taken to a neighbor's house.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
