Wednesday, on the fifth anniversary of the unsolved killings of a woman and her daughter at the Town Center mall in Boca Raton, their relatives made another plea for the public’s help.

“Please, give my sister and Joey some peace,” Joann Bruno said of her slain sister and niece. “Let them rest in heaven because they don’t have peace.”

Five years ago Wednesday, Nancy Bochicchio, 47, and Bochicchio’s daughter, Joey Bochicchio, 7, were killed outside the mall, authorities say. They were abducted and taken to an ATM to withdraw money, police said. They were bound and shot to death, police said.

More than 1,900 leads have been pursued by police, who have traveled across the country as part of the investigation. Still, investigators say they haven’t pieced together who killed the Nancy and Joey Bochicchio.

Bruno’s spouse, Stanley Bruno, said the past five years have been painful for his family. He said other families should remain vigilant when shopping this holiday season, so they never have to face such tragedy.

“I don’t want to see this happen to any other family,” Bruno said. “They have to be careful at these malls. You never know when it’s going to happen to you.”
