Fleet Week has arrived in South Florida.
Four Navy warships and a Coast Guard cutter will pass through the inlet Monday and tie up at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale for the annual event. Some 2,500 sailors, Marines and Coast Guard members will be among the military personnel expected to take part in community service projects, as well as cooking and damage-control contests between ships.
Tours of the ships will be available to those who have registered in advance and passed a security clearance. The public will also have a view of the Iwo Jima, the guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy, the guided-missile destroyer USS Ross, the submarine USS Annapolis and a Coast Guard cutter.
