Miami-born rapper Flo Rida will be the Grand Marshal for this year’s “Great Grove Bed Race,” an annual competition where teams push homemade beds in Coconut Grove.

“I love my fans, so when I get the chance to interact with them, it's beautiful,” Flo Rida said in a statement. “Growing up in South Florida, I've always known, before I had a record deal, that the thing is to go out and put on the show. I've been doing that from day one and so have these race producers. I can’t wait to be a part of the totally different kind of show.”

Teams of five racers and five pit crew members will compete in the “Great Grove Bed Race” as they decorate a unique homemade bed, and later race down Bayshore Drive in Coconut Grove.

The teams will be judged by Flo Rida, Mayor Thomas Regalado, Karina Iglesias of "The Voice" and Miami Commissioner Marc Sarnoff. The beds will be judged for best artistry, best engineered, just plain funniest and most dressed for success. Then the remaining top teams will compete in the actual race.

This year’s proceeds will benefit Dress for Success Miami, an organization that promotes economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, support and career development tools.

The event will take place on Bayshore Drive by Peacock Park on Nov.3.
