Former Florida Republican Gov. Charlie Crist launched his campaign for his old job Monday, promising to take the state in a new direction if he is returned to office as a Democrat. NBC 6’s Steve Litz reports.

“Be the first to know who the lieutenant governor will be,” Scott’s message said. “Only on Facebook.”

Last March then-lieutenant governor Jennifer Carroll abruptly resigned after she was interviewed by law enforcement authorities about work she once did for a charity that prosecutors have said was a front for a widespread gambling ring. She has not been accused of any wrongdoing.

There has been speculation for weeks about a whole range of potential candidates for the job, including State Sen. Tom Lee and Miami-Dade Property Appraiser Carlos Lopez-Cantera.
