Florida Inmate Sent White Powder Letter to Court

Volusia County Sheriff's deputies say 23-year-old Jeremy Addison ground up some pills and put the powder in an envelope.

Authorities say an inmate sent a letter containing a suspicious white powder to an official at the Volusia County Courthouse.

Volusia County Sheriff's deputies say 23-year-old Jeremy Addison ground up some pills and put the powder in an envelope. The letter arrived at the courthouse mailroom Tuesday morning and authorities eventually traced it back to Addison. It's unclear what the pills were or how he obtained them while in jail.

Addison was arrested last month on charges of attempted robbery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, driving without a driver's license, and grand theft.

The News-Journal reports Addison will face additional charges of unlawfully threatening to do harm to a public official, written threat to kill, smuggling contraband into a detention facility and two narcotics offenses.
