Florida Lottery Warns of Email Scam Involving Mega Millions Game

Florida Lottery officials are warning players about an email scam targeting people by using the Mega Millions game.

Officials say an email has been circulated by scammers saying they may have won $1 million even though they haven’t bought a ticket for the game. The email ask for personal and financial information in order to collect the money.

State officials say you should not respond to the email – which has the Mega Millions logo at the top and states that winners were chosen from a random drawing – as you cannot win money without purchasing a ticket.

Players of lottery games will never be required to transfer money to collect winnings. Anyone with questions can contact the Florida Lottery by clicking on this link or you can call 850-487-7730 to report a scam to the Division of Security.
