Florida Pastor Gets Prison for Insurance Scheme

The Pensacola, Florida, man pleaded guilty in June to conspiracy to commit mail fraud.

A Florida pastor has been sentenced to more than five years in prison after pleading guilty in Virginia to a life insurance scheme.

The government says 46-year-old Nathaniel A. McNeil's scheme victimized more than 1,200 people.

U.S. Attorney Dana J. Boente says McNeil was sentenced Friday to 68 months in prison and ordered to pay $32,835 in restitution to victims.

The Pensacola, Florida, man pleaded guilty in June to conspiracy to commit mail fraud.

McNeil was the founder and president of Life Transformation Ministries International. He promised members a universal life insurance policy in exchange for a one-time fee of $25. None of the victims, in fact, was insured.
