Florida Supreme Court Denies Appeal in Murder-for-Hire Case

The Florida Supreme Court has denied an appeal to dismiss the charges against a South Florida woman accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill her then-husband.

Tuesday's decision from the court means the retrial of Dalia Dippolito will move forward.

The 34-year-old Dippolito is facing a retrial on 2009 charges that she tried to hire a hit man to kill her husband, Michael Dippolito. She has pleaded not guilty.

The murder-for-hire plot was featured on the television show "Cops" but Dippolito claims it was planned to get her publicity and possibly make her a reality TV star. Her case gained national notoriety because "Cops" happened to be filming with the Boynton Beach police.

She was convicted in 2011 and sentenced to 20 years in prison, but an appellate court overturned the verdict because her lawyers weren't allowed to ask jurors individually about their knowledge of the case.
