Florida Supreme Court Denies Davie Waffle House Murderer's Appeal

A regular customer who killed two Waffle House employees and left another for dead during a robbery will remain on Florida's death row.

The Supreme Court denied Gerhard "Chip" Hojan's appeal Thursday for the 2002 shootings at a Davie Waffle House.

Hojan ordered three employees working the overnight shift into a freezer, then returned and shot each, killing 17-year-old waitress Christina Delarosa and 18-year-old cook Willy Absolu.

But 37-year-old waitress Barbara Nunn regained consciousness. Bleeding from a gunshot to the head, she walked to a gas station next door. When police arrived, she told them that Hojan and former Waffle House cook Jimmy Mickel robbed them and that Hojan shot the employees.

Hojan was given two death sentences and five consecutive life sentences.
