Florida Therapy Horses For Sandy Hook & Pulse Victims Killed in Attack

Residents in North Florida are raising money for a therapy ranch whose horses were killed by dogs.

The incident happened on March 4 in Columbia County at the Gentle Carousel Pastures. Officials say two dogs that belong to a neighbor got lose and attacked horses Mozart and Catherine. Mozart died in his pasture. Catherine died from her injures ten days later, according to the non-profit charity.

Both miniature animals were used for therapy for victims involved with the Sandy Hook and Pulse Nightclub shootings.

Authorities are investigating the incident. The dogs have since been euthanized and the owners fined. The owners of the horses are in mourning.

"It's been very difficult, very tragic. These horses did such good work. They didn't deserve this to happen to them," said owner George Garcia-Bengochea.

The non-profit charity estimates the veterinarian bills to be more than $15,000. The charity says it relies heavily on donations. A Go Fund Me page has been created to raise money for Gentle Pastures.
