A Florida woman was arrested after she chased various people, including her 9-year-old son, with a baseball bat at a local high school, authorities said.

Marquita Kihnley was released on a $17,000 bond Sunday after being charged with child abuse without great harm, aggravated battery and battery, jail records show. It wasn’t immediately known if she had an attorney.

Deputies responded to a local Naples high school Saturday after receiving calls about a woman attempting to hit people with a baseball bat, according to the Collier County Sheriff's Office.

When deputies arrived, Kihnley, 32, was leaving the high school in her SUV. Witnesses identified her as the woman with the bat and deputies were able to catch up with her, the arrest report said.

Kihnley was upset, crying and yelling at the deputy, the arrest report said. She then told the deputy that she carried a baseball bat in her car for personal protection and admitted to taking it out, the sheriff’s office said.

But according to witnesses, Kihnley hit a man with the baseball bat and threatened to smash car windows with the bat.

According to the report, Kihnley was upset over her child being at the school for a sporting event.

Witnesses and victims said Kihnley also punched a woman in the face, the report said.

Kihnley is expected to appear in court on Nov. 18.
