Florida Woman Stabbed With Broken Metal Broom Handle

A woman is in critical condition after authorities say she was stabbed in the neck with a broken broom handle while on the front porch of a Jacksonville home.

Jacksonville Sheriff's officials say the unidentified victim was stabbed Saturday with a broken metal broom handle about 2 1/2-3 feet long that had a sharp end.

According to WTLV, Jacksonville Fire and Rescue was dispatched out to where the stabbing occurred, after being called by a witness to the stabbing. However, the witness did not think the woman could wait and began to transport her to UF Health.

JFRD intercepted the vehicle transporting the victim at Hendricks Ave and Atlantic Blvd. Authorities then began treating her and took her the rest of the way to UF Health.

The Florida Times-Union reports authorities are interviewing the woman's boyfriend who they say is a person of interest in the stabbing. His name was not released but authorities said he rode along in the car with the victim on the way to the hospital.
