Florida mayor: Carjacking was ‘a random act of violence'

An 18-year-old is being held without bail in the carjacking of a central Florida mayor.

WFTV reports that a judge Sunday ordered that Jermine Jacques Horne remain in the Seminole County jail.

Horne faces charges of armed carjacking, aggravated assault and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was arrested along with a 17-year-old for the carjacking early Saturday. Authorities are searching for a third suspect.

Sanford Mayor Jeff Triplett told the news station that one teen shoved a gun into his mouth and another pointed a gun at his ear. He says they took his keys, wallet and SUV, which police say they crashed into a ditch.

Triplett says it was ``just a random act of violence.''

Jail records didn't show whether Horne had an attorney.
