Lakatriona Brunson made history earlier this year when she became the first female head football coach in the state of Florida.

Now, practice is in full swing for the Generals of Miami Jackson Senior High, and coach Brunson says she's looking forward to the work ahead of her.

When it comes to her male coaching staff, Brunson says she and the coaches are too busy working and developing their team to worry about her history-making turn as head coach.

"We don't really have time to figure out what each other thinks," she said. "We've got a lot of work to do in a little bit of time."

Brunson was already well known to fans of reality TV as Bernice, the tough-as-nails tow truck driver from the show "South Beach Tow."

In her new role, she says she's all about building her new team not just as athletes, but as young men too. Her goals go beyond racking up wins. Brunson says she wants to guide her players to make something of themselves, to get out out of Miami and go on to college and beyond.

"Don't get me wrong, I do want to win," Brunson explains. "But at the end of the day if these kids aren't being taught anything and they're not going to college, I've already lost."
