Former DCF Employee Arrested After Drugs Found Inside Her Polk County Home

Authorities in Polk County have arrested a former child protective investigator they say was dealing heroin and cocaine out of the home she shared with her fiancé.

NBC affiliate WFLA-TV says officials issued an arrest warrant for Laymeshia Hicks and Xzaiveous Scott on several drug charges. Hicks was a Department of Children and Families investigator when deputies found 68.9 grams of heroin and 288 grams of cocaine in the couple's bedroom. The department has since fired her.

Hicks turned herself in late Monday night, while Scott remains at large.

Deputies discovered the drugs after Scott's teenage nephews reported a home invasion robbery on Friday. The sheriff's office said in a press release that they've initially contacted the couple by phone, but hadn't been able to locate them and they were unwilling to meet with investigators.
