Former Miami Beach Cop Busted Again

Ex-cop behind pair of shootings, grow house, arrested for battery

The former Miami Beach cop, who was involved in two fatal on-duty shootings within a week and was later busted for running a grow house, has once again been arrested.

Adam Tavss, 36, was arrested on battery and false imprisonment charges in Doral over the weekend, police said. The details of the arrest weren't immediately released.

Tavss was being held Monday on $6,500 bond.

Tavss was arrested last May after police found 47 pot plants worth about $50,000 inside his home. He was given two years' probation and stripped of his police certification in October 2010 after he pleaded guilty to selling and trafficking marijuana.

This past March, Tavss was cleared by Miami-Dade prosecutors in the June 14, 2009, shooting of Virginia tourist Husien Shehada outside Twist nightclub in Miami Beach.

Tavss was responding to calls of armed men when he encountered Shehada and his brother, Samer, who had reportedly grabbed an empty beer bottle and wooden coat hanger to use following an altercation with another group of men.

Just four days after the Shehada shooting, Tavss was back on duty when he was involved in the shooting death of Lawrence McCoy, a suspected carjacker.
