A Fort Lauderdale detective fired his gun during an undercover operation Tuesday night on West Broward Boulevard, officials said.

Police said at about 9 a.m. a detective discharged his firearm. While no one was struck by the firearm, a suspect in the operation received minor injuries from shards of glass, according to authorities.

The suspect, 26-year-old Leonard Alexander, was treated at Broward Health Medical Center and transported to the Broward Sheriff's Office main jail. Alexander was charged with one count of cocaine delivery within 1,000 feet of a park.
