Trio Accused in String of Fort Lauderdale Car Burglaries

Police have arrested three suspects in connection with numerous vehicle burglaries through Fort Lauderdale.

Several residents in the area of Lauderdale Isles reported the burglaries Friday after the first burglary occurred Thursday night, Fort Lauderdale police said.

The suspects were caught in one surveillance video breaking into a car by opening an unlocked vehicle.

Luigi Johnson, 20, of Dania Beach, was arrested early Saturday after patrol officers saw the suspects' vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. After a police pursuit, Johnson was taken into custody as well as a 14-year-old male and a 17-year-old male.

Johnson remains in Broward County Main Jail and faces charges of armed burglary, according to online jail records.
