At around 4:30 a.m. Thursday, the King family said they heard something like a bomb go off outside their home in southwest Miami-Dade.
“A big boom, I looked at my sister like what was that,” Ki-Jana King said.
He and his 10 relatives looked outside the window to see large flames flickering. They felt the heat of the fire and raced outside to see what was going on.
Four cars – charred and destroyed in an apparent arson attack – stood outside their house on SW 229 Terrace.
“I’m hurt. I’m very hurt. I can’t really put it into words right now,” King said.
King said the fire started in one car and spread to the others. Gas tanks were found near the charred remains, leading investigators to believe it was set on purpose.

“I have no idea who would want to burn something that we worked for,” King said.
King said they park the cars as close to the garage as they can.
“Luckily it didn’t catch out house because that was all that we were worried about when we called the police. Can you please just get here very fast because we don’t want our house to catch on fire next.”
Fortunately, the fire was extinguished before it could spread to the house. Officials said they are investigating the incident.
