Four Horses Found Starving to Death in Miami-Dade: Animal Recovery Mission

The animals may be ex-racehorses

Animal advocates said they found four thoroughbreds, possibly ex-racehorses, starving to death on an undisclosed property in Miami-Dade County Wednesday.

The Animal Recovery Mission said it found the emaciated horses while investigating illegal slaughter farms. Advocates said they believe the horses were in a holding area before being killed.

“You see the condition of these horses and it’s sad,” Richard Couto of the Animal Recovery Mission said Thursday. “A sad fact of the cruelty we have to deal with in South Florida.”
