Four Teenagers Arrested for Armed Kidnapping and Robbery

The teens will be tried as adults.

Four teenagers were arrested after they allegedly kidnapped and robbed a deliveryman at gunpoint.

Malik Johnson, 15, Michael Munroe, 17, Jacquan Strowbridge, 16, and Alex Leon, 16, are being tried as adults and face charges of robbery and kidnapping with a weapon, according to an arrest affidavit.

According to deputies, the teens ordered food to be delivered from Red Chinese Lantern in Boca Raton.

The deliveryman, Jing Liang, arrived at a vacant Deerfield Beach apartment and was held at gunpoint by three masked men, the affidavit says. They forced him into the bathroom and stole $100 and his iPhone. Police say the weapon used is believed to be a BB gun.

The fourth participant, Leon, did not directly participate in the robbery but aided and abetted when he made the phone call and therefore can be just as guilty as if he was there, according to Jim Lewis, an attorney for one of the boys.

The suspects were located soon after the crime in Leon's apartment directly across from the robbery, the affidavit says. Authorities say the call for the delivery was made from Leon's mother's phone.

The four teens could face up to life in prison and are being held without bond, according to Lewis. Police say that one teen admitted to the crime and implicated the others.

"We are very upset -- myself and the family. This child is 15 years old, has never been in trouble before and is now having to sit in the adult jail," Lewis told NBC Miami about his client, Johnson.

Strowbridge admitted to committing a similar crime days ago on a pizza deliveryman, according to the judge.

Lewis told NBC Miami that their bond hearings are next week.
