Frantic 911 Calls Released in Lauderhill Dog Mauling

The 911 calls made during a vicious dog attack in Lauderhill were released Tuesday.

The teenaged nephew of Yasmin Adams, 43, can be heard panicking as his aunt is mauled by one of her three dogs. “I have a dog that went rampant in my house and it’s starting to attack its owner,” the caller tells the 911 dispatcher. “It’s attacking her right now, it’s killing her.”

Lauderhill Fire Rescue say the dog turned on Adams Monday afternoon at an apartment complex located on northwest 21st Street and 41st Avenue.

In the 911 call, the teenager is heard frantically screaming. “What do you want me to do?! Let it go!”

Adams was in town visiting from South Carolina along with her three dogs. Neighbors say the dogs are pit bulls.

You can hear the agony in the caller’s voice, “Please, she’s screaming right now. It’s chewing up her arm.”

Adams was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center in critical condition. She suffered injuries to both arms and required hours of surgery.

Neighbors say Adams was trying to break up a fight between two puppies when the adult dog attacked. When police arrived, an officer used a baton and pepper spray in an attempt to stop the attack. But, that had no effect and police say the officer was forced to shoot the dog. The dog survived, but was later euthanized.

The two other dogs are being held by Broward Animal Control until Adams recovers.
