Libraries in Miami-Dade County are trying to drum up World Cup Fever in South Florida, inviting soccer enthusiasts to take part in the action during an indoor or outdoor soccer shootout.
It starts Tuesday, June 22 and runs through July 22. Select library branches will be celebrating this international event with athletic and video gaming contests.
Soccer fans must visit a participating branch where they will receive a soccer shootout ID card. After researching their favorite team and player by going online to www.fifa.com, they will color their team’s jersey and flag on the ID card.
The first round of play will be a trivia contest where prizes will be awarded to the winners.
Depending on the type of shootout – indoor or outdoor - participants will either go outside to test their soccer skills by shooting penalty goals, or stay inside to compete with three other players in the Wii FIFA 2010 video game.
