A GPS unit helped lead deputies in central Florida to a suspected burglar.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports a Volusia County Sheriff's deputy stopped a pickup truck early Saturday for an inoperable license plate light. As the deputy first approached the truck, he spotted a purple bag full of electronics. But when he returned to the truck a few minutes later, he saw that the bag had been covered by a jacket.
He asked to search 31-year-old passenger Dewey Smith and the vehicle and found a GPS unit and other items. Smith told him the items were his. But a recent address in the GPS led deputies to a Deltona home where a vehicle theft had been reported.
Smith now faces grand theft and burglary charges.
