A veteran Coral Gables police officer has been arrested on charges of armed robbery and aggravated stalking, according to Miami-Dade Corrections.
Ivan Cabrera, a 21-year veteran of the force, has been relieved of his duties pending the criminal investigation into the charges, Coral Gables Police Sgt. Janette Frevola said. Frevola said qalleged incident occurred while Cabrera was off duty.
No details have been released about the arrest, but Miami-Dade County jail spokeswoman Janelle Hall said Cabrera was held on a $12,500 bond.
It's unclear what agency arrested Cabrera or when he was arrested.
"Due to this matter being an Internal Affairs Investigation by the Coral Gables Police Department, the Department will not be making any further statements at this time," Frevola said in a statement.
A phone call to the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office was not immediately returned Friday.
It wasn't immediately known if Cabrera had an attorney.
