A gas leak forced a partial evacuation of South Miami Hospital Tuesday.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue's Hazmat team was at the scene of the gas leak at the hospital, located at Southwest 62nd Avenue and 73rd Street.
Shortly before 3:30 Tuesday afternoon, construction crews working on the loading dock area when they hit a gas line, officials said.
No one was injured, but the entire first floor of the hospital was evacuated for hours.
The emergency room was accepting walk-in patients, but patients coming in by ambulance were taken to other nearby hospitals.
Southwest 62nd Avenue, which runs in front of the hospital, was closed from U.S. 1 to Sunset Drive.
The gas line was repaired and as of 7 p.m. visitors were allowed back into the hospital and the streets around the hospital were reopened.
