Frequent visitors of Diamond's Cabaret won't be able to enjoy the view from below anytime soon.
Diamond's Cabaret can't seem to catch a break these days. Less than a week after a fire blazed through the North Miami Beach strip club, city officials voted to take away the club's late night operating license.
Apparently, the owners of the club owe the city thousands of dollars for providing security for the strip joint. The club was supposed to reimburse the city for using off-duty police officers to make sure customers didn't get out of line while gawking at girls, but missed the Tuesday deadline to pay up.
''Finally, we said enough is enough,'' City Manager Kelvin Baker told the council according to the Miami Herald. "We gave them a deadline, and they did not meet the deadline."
It's the second strip club this week to take a kick in the rear from a city. Cheetah strip club in Hallandale Beach was shut down earlier this week after an undercover investigation turned up prostitution and drug use.
Diamond's Cabaret, which has become more synonymous with fights and violence than g-strings, has been under scrutiny for months because of its lack of security. Baker said the club also doesn't have security cameras. The late-night license allowed Diamond's to stay open until 6 a.m.
The city is owed about $15,000 or about 7,500 free lap dances. We suspect council members will take the cash instead.
Diamond's is currently closed for repairs until August after the fire earlier this month.
