Georgia Mom Scrubs Makeup Off Son's Face With Steel Wool Pad: Deputies

A Georgia mother is facing child cruelty charges after she allegedly tried to scrub makeup off of her 12-year-old son's face with a steel wool cleaning pad.

As reported by NBC affiliate WXIA in Atlanta, Georgia, 47-year-old Veridiana Pardo Meo Erbskorn told police her son had recently started dressing differently, dying his hair different colors and wearing makeup.

She described it to police as a "rock and roll stage," according to reports.

Erbskorn allegedly used the steel wool pad to remove eyeliner and makeup from the boy's face. According to the report, the victim's sibling called police out of concern for his well-being. When officers arrived, they found the boy with injuries to his eye and redness all over his face from the scratching of the metal pad.

Child Protective Services were notified, but whether they have any further involvement in the incident is not immediately clear.

Erbskorn was taken to the Cowetta County Jail and was charged with one count of battery and two counts of child cruelty.

If the son suffers any permanent damage as a result of the incident, those charges might be elevated, according to the report.

Erbskorn has since bonded out of jail.

It is not known if she has hired an attorney.
