Gingrich, Romney Continue Stumping in Florida

Early voting ends Saturday

Saturday marks the last day Florida voters can take advantage of early voting ahead of Tuesday’s Republican primary, but the favorites ahead of the election still have a lot of campaigning to do until then with multiple events planned for the start of the weekend.

Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney are busy making last minute pitches to state voters in what polls are showing is a close race.

Rick Santorum and Ron Paul, on the other hand, have already shifted their focus onto states with the latter in Maine and the former in Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.

According to a Quinnipiac University poll of likely voters after Thursday’s debate, Romney pulled ahead of his challengers as he was favored by 38 percent of the respondents while Gingrich took 29 percent, followed by Paul at 14 percent and Santorum with 12 percent.

Gingrich will continue to court the Latino vote in Florida as he plans a Hispanic Town Hall Meeting at the Centro de la Familia Cristiana in Orlando starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

In the evening, the former Speaker of the House will be back in South Florida at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach at an event sponsored by the Republican Party of Palm Beach County.

Romney got an early start to his weekend campaigning with a Veteran’s Rally in Pensacola before he planned to attend grassroots rally in Panama City at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday.

Polling stations where early voting is available close at 7 p.m.
