Rescuers had to pull a girl from a pool pump.
Authorities in South Florida say they rescued a three-year-old girl after her arm got lodged in a pool pipe.
Capt. Pete Gomez of the Miami Fire Rescue says firefighters cut through the pool's wall to dislodge the pipe that girl's arm got stuck in on Monday morning. Rescuers held the girl's head above water for more than an hour before they could finally get her free from the strong suction.
The girl was transported to a hospital with her arm still in the pipe.
Gomez said that when firefighters transported her to the hospital was in good condition.
The girl and her mother were swimming at a Key Biscayne condominium pool when the incident occurred. She was reportedly taking swimming lessons at the time.
The nearly tragic swimming lesson mirrors a similar incident in July involving a Miramar toddler who had his arm sucked in by a pipe in a family jacuzzi. That boy also survived his experience.
