Gloria and Emilio Estefan Give Back on Thanksgiving

Lucky families receive holiday meals from Miami's favorite musical power couple

Thanksgiving is all about giving back and some lucky families got a special feast hosted by Miami's favorite musical power couple, Gloria and Emilio Estefan.

The Estefan's 9th annual Thanksgiving Feed a Friend event was held Thursday at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood.

"Kindness and love and sharing and we've been so blessed that it makes us very happy to be able to share in some way with those that may not have particularly a great place to go to for Thanksgiving," Gloria Estefan said.

The musical duo were on hand to give away some delicious meals at Bongo's Cuban Cafe, all for a good cause.

"Some people, they don't have time or they don't have the money to do that kind of thing so when you share with them that makes us so happy," Emilio Estefan said.

The feast fed hundreds with an impressive spread of both traditional dishes and Cuban specialties. Volunteers from Baptist Health South Florida and other local organizations served food to about 1,500 homeless and families in transition.

"I personally feel very strongly that what we're doing here, it makes really a special day for the kids and for the adults who are homeless," Baptist Health VP George Foyo said.

There was something for everyone, even a kids corner with face painting, crafts and of course, Santa.

Everyone had something to be grateful for.

"For my beautiful family, for the unconditional love that you all give me and such support through the years, for being 40 years with the love of my life," Gloria Estefan said.
