1 Woman Killed, 4 Others Wounded in Golden Glades Park and Ride Shooting

Miami-Dade police are seeking the gunman who opened fire at Golden Glades park and ride Sunday.

The gunfire sparked a chaotic scene that caused 21-year-old Jasmine Dixon to be struck and killed by a car trying to flee safely after gunshots erupted. It was initially reported Dixon was fatally shot.

The woman's father spoke to NBC 6 about losing her young daughter so tragically.

"She was a very bright, young aspiring lady," said Kelly Dixon, the victim's father.  "We are trying to do all that we can to get her buried properly and in somewhere. We are accepting any kind of help that we can get at this time."

Two people were hit by bullets and two others were hospitalized with injuries suffered while trying to escape the chaos that erupted moments after shots rang out.

The women had just been dropped off by a private bus service around 1 a.m. at Golden Glades park and ride lot at 16000 Northwest 7th Avenue when someone in a car started shooting before speeding away, according to Miami-Dade Police Department spokesperson Alvaro Zabaleta.

"We just heard gunshots and everybody started scattering different ways," witness Cleondra Gaiter said.

Two of Dixon's friends, 17-year-old Danesha Goulbourne and 18-year-old Quanisha Hepburn, were listed in stable condition after being shot. Two other friends, 20-year-old Lakeesha Hayes and 23-year-old Kandisha Rodgers, suffered injuries after possibly being hit by a car.

They were transported to nearby hospitals. Hayes was listed in fair condition at Aventura Hospital Monday.

"I don't know if it was people at the bus party or people that came after the bus party, we don't know. We just heard gunshots and it was coming from all directions," witness Runika Jean Gilles said.

Investigators are searching for the driver and occupants, if any, of a white or silver vehicle, possibly a Hyundai or KIA, with damage to the right front and passenger side as well as extensive damage to the right front tire on the passenger side.

Miami-Dade police detectives are urging the community to come forward with information about the shooting. If you have any information, call Miami-Dade Crime Stopper at 305-471-TIPS.
