Grinch Stole Christmas Decorations Off Hialeah Lawn

Inflatable decorations swiped from Hialeah family

The Grinch came early this year for a Hialeah family who says their inflatable Christmas decorations were stolen right off their lawn.

Jacklyn Ruiz says she woke up Wednesday to find the four inflatables - Santa, Rudolph, Mickey Mouse and a snowman - gone from her home in the 300 block of E. 58th Street.

"It's sad, it's incredible that that would happen," Ruiz told NBC 6 South Florida Thursday. "It's a quiet neighborhood."

Ruiz said the decorations had just been put up on Sunday. She said the thief or thieves even stole the extension cords for her Christmas lights.

"I was very surprised...we wouldn't have expected that," she said.

The decorations were worth just over $100, but Ruiz said it was the mere act of taking them that put a damper on the holidays for her kids.

Ruiz said no neighbors saw anything and there was no surveillance footage. She's filed a police report. In the meantime, Ruiz said an anonymous donor has come forward and donated cash to replace the decorations.
