As millions of people descend on Miami for a host of events this weekend, motorists should be aware of several road closures that will impact the flow of traffic through Sunday.

Here's a rundown of how to get around Miami this weekend:

Miami's ePrix Race

Several roads are already closed Friday ahead of Miami's ePrix race which starts on Biscayne Boulevard, moves to Northeast Second Avenue, then under the MacArthur Causeway and back down Biscayne before looping around the American Airlines Arena.

  • Biscayne Boulevard is CLOSED northbound from Northeast Third Street to Northeast 14th Street.
  • Southbound CLOSED from 14th Street to Northeast Fifth Street
  • All northbound traffic will be rerouted to Northeast First Avenue
  • All southbound traffic will be rerouted to North Miami Avenue
  • Northeast Second Avenue exit on 395 from the Dolphin Expressway will close at 8 p.m. Friday and will reopen by noon Saturday

Carnaval Miami 2015: Calle Ocho

The Annual Calle Ocho Street Festival will take place on Sunday and officially starts at 11:00 AM and ends at 7:00 PM. Motorists are encouraged to take alternate route if they must travel in the vicinity of the event. Road closures are as follows:

  • On Saturday at 11:30 p.m., eastbound traffic on Southwest Eighth Street from Southwest 27 Avenue to Southwest Seventh Avenue will be CLOSED. Traffic headed eastbound on Southwest Eighth Street will be detoured north or southbound on Southwest 27 Avenue
  • Miami-Dade buses which normally travel along Southwest Eighth Street, will be detoured
  • Southwest Seventh Street will remain open westbound until Southwest Eighth Avenue, then detoured north
  • Residents will be allowed access on a “local traffic only” basis to Southwest Seventh Street on the north side, or on the south side of Southwest Ninth Street
  • Southwest Eighth Street will reopen to normal traffic by 5 a.m. on Monday

Weekend Construction

Weekend construction will close the southbound State Road 826 ramp to eastbound State Road 836 all weekend long from 11 p.m., Friday through 5 a.m. Monday. The closure will allow crews to open a new southbound SR 826 bridge to eastbound SR 836 by Monday morning, March 16. In the meantime, drivers should do the following:

  • Continue southbound on State Road 826
  • Exit at the Southwest Eighth Street east ramp
  • Enter northbound State Road 826 ramp to access the eastbound State Road 836 ramp

City of Miami police will be on hand all weekend long to assist motorists who need assistance getting around.
