Gun Allegedly Brought To School By 2nd Grader; Parents Not Told For 2 Days

Parents of students at a Catholic school say they learned that a student brought a gun to school, two days after it happened.

Parents were even more surprised and shocked to hear that it was a second grader who allegedly brought the gun to Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School in Miami Lakes.

A concerned parent contacted NBC 6 Thursday night after receiving an email from the school two days after it happened.

NBC 6 obtained the email which reads, "Yesterday evening school officials were informed that a second grade student had allegedly brought a gun to school in his backpack which may have been shown to several classmates.
The matter was immediately investigated by the school administration. Appropriate remedial measures have been taken and a report to law enforcement has been made."

The same parent who sent NBC 6 the email says many parents are upset they were not notified about the incident sooner and they are planning a protest at the school Friday morning.
