Frail old men: put down your guns.

Over-the-hill men who fall faster than an actor in a Life Alert ad probably shouldn't be walking around with a loaded weapon, especially one with the safety off.

But that's just what appears to have happened when a 77-year-old man accidentally shot himself in the chest after he slipped and fell in his South Miami-Dade condo yesterday.

The gun-toting geriatric, who wasn't identified, was in stable condition yesterday after he was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital with a bullet in his chest, according to the Miami Herald.

A 911 caller said the man's gun discharged as he fell around 8:30 a.m. Police believe the shooting was accidental.
