Gunman Opens Fire at Ritzy Bal Harbor Shops

Two people wounded after man opens fire outside restaurant

Two people were shot after an argument at a ritzy Bal Harbour shopping plaza led to gunfire Tuesday night.

The shooting started with a confrontation between two men in front of the Carpaccio Restaurant at 9700 Collins Ave. in the Bal Harbor Shops around 6:15 p.m., police said.

One of the men fired a shot at the other, hitting him in the leg. The same bullet or possibly a second shot hit an innocent bystander, a woman, in the foot.

The woman had been sitting at an outdoor dining table at the restaurant. She and the man who was shot were taken to the hospital and are expected to be ok.

The gunman fled the scene and is still on the run. He's described a black male with a muscular build.

Police officials said the shooting, at what's considered one of the safest places in South Florida, was surprising.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
