Authorities are looking for four suspects who opened fire on a home in unincorporated Broward County as a family slept inside.
The shooting happened just before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday at the home at 2910 Northwest 6th Court, the Broward Sheriff's Office said Friday.
According to the BSO, a woman was sleeping in the home with children ages 2, 10, 12, and 18 when the shooting happened. Her husband wasn't home at the time, the BSO said. The man and woman did not want to be identified.
Three of the men, who were wearing hoods, fired a hail of bullets at the home using two handguns and an assault rifle, the BSO said.
"It was just a whole lot of gunshots and I just laid down and made sure my kids was fine," the woman said.
The gunfire was so wild, neighbors weren't sure which house was actually being shot at.
"I didn't know which way it was coming -- my bedroom there, they bedroom there, or my granddaughter bedroom there," neighbor Pinkie Davis said. "You didn't know which way it was coming all you was hearing was like some shooting was gonna never stop."
No one was injured in the attack, but Davis, who has heart trouble and diabetes, had to be taken to the hospital after she fainted.
"I got out of my bed and I fell against the table," she said. "My pressure went up, and my sugar went up."
Authorities haven't said why the gunmen may have targeted the home, but said the shooters had a plan.
"This was a really violent display," BSO spokeswoman Gina Carter said. "They had been seen in the neighborhood the day before the shooting so they may have been casing the house or neighborhood, looking for whomever their intended victim was."
The husband told detectives he remembered seeing the white SUV the suspects were riding in circling the area the day before, the BSO said.
A nearby surveillance camera captured the frightening attack and shows the trio open fire on the home before running back to a getaway car driven by the fourth suspect.
Authorities are offering a reward of up to $3,000 for information leading to an arrest in the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
