Hallandale High School Placed on Lockdown After Social Media Post

A Broward County high school was placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon following a social media post from a student.

Police responded to the scene at Hallandale High School, located off Northwest 9th Avenue, before noon.

Hallandale Police say that a post on Snapchat from a 10th grader showed the student posting a photo holding a loaded magazine inside a gym during a pep rally.

Officers responded and found the student, but no gun, officials said.

The student was still being questioned as officers determine whether to press charges. The lockdown was lifted around 1 p.m. and students were sent home since it was an early release day.
