Heat Blow Out Bucks to Halt Six-Game Skid

The Heat put an end to a six-game slide with their 96-73 win over the Bucks on Thursday

The Miami Heat ended their losing streak with a 96-73 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday.

Miami had lost six games in a row heading into this contest and had struggled to even look competitive. This game did not start out so well for the Heat, but the team was able to turn things around. Dion Waiters was a big reason for the turnaround in one of his best games thus far with the Heat.

The Bucks took a six-point lead after one quarter and the game was tied going into the half. Miami turned things on after the half and won the third quarter with a five-point advantage. In the fourth quarter, Miami used a strong run to put the game away.

With the win, Miami improved to 3-8 overall on the season. This was also only Miami's second win at home in seven tries. The Heat are near the basement in the standings, but there is plenty of time to salvage this season. This win was a step in the right direction for the Heat against a potential playoff contending team.

Waiters had 23 points and also added seven rebounds and four assists. The veteran was active defensively as well with all seven of those boards coming on defense. The 23 points for Waiters led Miami and came during 35 minutes of time on the court.

Without Justise Winslow available, Miami went with three guards in the starting lineup. In addition to Waiters, the Heat had Goran Dragic and Josh Richardson on the court at the start of the game. Dragic was returning from an injury of his own and had 14 points.

Hassan Whiteside added another double-double to his impressive season. Whiteside has double-doubles in every game except one this year. The center ended up with 12 points and 17 rebounds in the win. Whiteside also added eight blocks and two steals.

Miami's next four games will be on the road and the trip will begin on Saturday in Washington with a game against the Wizards.
