Heat Bring Michael Beasley Back on 10-Day Contract

Michael Beasley signed a 10-day contract with the Heat and will be available for Friday's game

The Miami Heat will have familiar face available to them off the bench after they signed Michael Beasley on Thursday.

Beasley will be on a ten-day contract and should have an opportunity to stick with the team the rest of the way. The 26-year old most recently played in the Chinese Basketball Association where he was an All-Star. Beasley scored 59 points in the game which was a record and also earned him the MVP award.

Last season with Miami, Beasley played sparingly but had some fleeting moments of success. There were times where Beasley showed glimpses of the potential he had earlier in his career. Overall, Beasley made two starts and played in 55 of Miami's games in 2013-14. The forward shot nearly 50% in his time with the Heat.

The need for Beasley increased when Chris Bosh was lost for the year. While Beasley will not perform at Bosh's level, he gives the Heat much-needed depth at the forward position. Josh McRoberts can still not be counted on to return this season and Miami has played with a depleted roster several times recently.

Beasley's NBA career started way back in 2008 when Miami selected him with the second overall pick in the NBA draft. His time in Miami was short lived however as the Heat dealt Beasley to the Minnesota Timberwolves prior to the 2010-11 season. This was a salary cap related move as the Heat were forming the "Big Three".

Miami will take on the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday at 8:00 p.m.
