Heat Fall to Timberwolves in Kansas City

The Heat lost to the Timberwolves in a preseason game in Kansas City on Saturday

The Miami Heat fell to 1-1 in the preseason with their 109-100 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday.

The game was considered a Heat home game, but was actually played in Kansas City, Missouri. Both teams gave ample minutes to their regular starters and also saw some production from the reserves.

Hassan Whiteside was solid again after a strong preseason debut. Miami's center had 17 points and 12 rebounds in the loss for his second double-double in as many chances. Whiteside added three blocks and a steal as well in 27 minutes on the court.

Goran Dragic had a good day himself with 16 points in 27 minutes. Dragic also added five assists and a rebound. With an injury depleted roster and no Dwyane Wade, it will be Dragic who is looked to often early on this season. The good exhibition start for Dragic is a promising sign for Miami.

Dion Waiters was busy once again off the bench with 14 points in 27 minutes of his own. Waiters also had six assists and four rebounds along the way. The veteran's good preseason could lead to some extra minutes in the rotation when the season gets underway.

Justise Winslow did not have the best of games with only seven points on 2-7 shooting. Winslow came down with four boards, but the team was -8 with him on the court. Without Chris Bosh around, Miami will need to see consistent production from Winslow this season.

The Heat will next head home to Miami for a pair of games. Monday's game will be the annual Red, White and Pink game which is a team scrimmage. Miami will then host the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday.
