Heat Head Home With Series Tied After Dropping Game Two

The Heat fought hard but were unable to take another one in Toronto as the Raptors tied the series

The Miami Heat fell to the Toronto Raptors by a final score of 96-92 in overtime on Thursday.

This marked the first time in franchise playoff history that Miami played in consecutive overtime games. The second round series is now tied 1-1 as it heads to Miami. The Heat did what they needed to do by taking one on the road. Miami owns home-court advantage in the series due to its win in the first game.

Toronto would take a seven-point lead into the locker room at the half, after leading by more earlier on. The Heat did a good job of fighting back against a Raptors team that tried to start hot in a game they needed. The Heat were playing with house money after winning the first game on the road.

The third quarter would be where the Heat made their move. Miami held a nine-point advantage in the third and took a two-point lead into the final quarter. The Heat posted the excellent quarter despite little involvement from Goran Dragic. The guard was unable to see big minutes due to foul trouble

Miami would open up the fourth quarter with a quick run to extend its lead to six points. That would represent the largest lead of the game for the Heat at the time. The Raptors would go on a 7-0 run at that point which prompted a timeout for Miami. Following the TO, the Heat would go on an 8-0 run to take a seven-point lead.

At that point, Toronto would stop the clock and do the same thing Miami did. The Raptors went on another run to tie the game. The game was all tied up with a little over a minute to go. After the Raptors took a four-point lead, Dwyane Wade would hit a three-pointer to make it a one-point game. That was until Kyle Lowry extended the Toronto lead back to three.

After a Miami timeout, Dragic would hit a game-tying trey with roughly ten seconds to go. Toronto would then get the ball and miss an attempt at the buzzer to send the game to overtime. In that OT period, Miami was held scoreless until under 24 seconds remained.

A big reason for the loss can be attributed to Miami's inability to keep possession of the ball. The Heat turned the ball over 21 times which led to 24 points for Toronto.

The series will move to Miami now for the third game on Saturday at 5 p.m.
