Miami Police Release Description of Model City Suspected Gunman

The Miami Police Department has released a description of the suspected gunman who robbed and shot a man in Model City.

Police officers and a SWAT team was deployed to Model City to search for the suspect Friday night. A six-block perimeter was established.

The incident started Friday at about 8 p.m. after police received reports of four shots fired through Shotspotter, a system that detects and reports gunfire.

Police responded immediately to find a wounded man and another beat up.

"According to detectives, the victim and witness were doing mechanical work on a vehicle," MPD said in a statement. "The suspect surprised the victim as he approached him with a grey shirt, covering his face and a black firearm in hand. The suspect demanded the victim's chain and a struggle ensued. The suspect then shot at the victim, striking him at least two times. The suspect then fled on foot."

Officers believe there is at least one suspect on the run. The suspect or suspects are believed to be armed and dangerous.

The suspect is described as a black/white mixed-race male with a slim build who was wearing a long-sleeve shirt, black pants and black footwear at the time of the incident.

The victims are expected to recover.
