Alleged Purse Snatchers Arrested by Hialeah Police

The Hialeah Police Department took two suspects into custody following several purse snatching incidents on Wednesday.

Angelo Johnson, 22, and Edshaquita Whatley, 23, both of Miami, were arrested.

The three incidents happened at three different locations within 30 minutes of each other.

Police said Johnson was armed with a firearm and Whatley was the getaway driver.

The first incident happened near 4th Avenue and Okee Road. While stopped at a red light, police said Johnson smashed a woman's passenger window, pointed a gun at her and stole her purse from the front seat.

The second happened in the Regions Bank parking lot on 4th Avenue. Police said the female victim was sitting in her car when Johnson opened the passenger door and ran off with her purse.

The third incident happened at the Citgo gas station on 4th Avenue when Johnson opened another woman's passenger door and ran off with her purse.

Both suspects were arrested after a sergeant recognized their getaway vehicle. They've been charged with multiple counts of armed robbery and burglary.

No attorney information for the suspects was available.
